Gracie's BJJ History

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu’s story is one of family, innovation, and self-improvement. It all began with a young Carlos Gracie, who learned Jiu-Jitsu from a visiting Japanese master, Mitsuyo Maeda. Carlos, along with his brothers, adapted the techniques to their physiques, focusing on ground fighting and submissions. Their success in overcoming larger opponents established their Gracie Jiu-Jitsu as a distinct style, emphasizing leverage and technique over strength. The Gracies not only revolutionized self-defense but also built a legacy of sharing their knowledge and fostering a community built on respect and growth. Absolutely love Gracie Barra, their staff is amazing, the professors and coaches really are the best. I’ve been training since last year in October. Ive also enrolled my daughter into Gracie Barra kids class and I have noticed the confidence in her. She used to be so shy and now she’s so outgoing.
